The 59-year-old talk show host is believed to be spending £16,000 on having a greenhouse built in the expansive gardens of his and his wife Jane's North London mansion, as he wants to be able to grow his own fruit and veg.

According to MailOnline, Jonathan has chosen a "Mottisfont design" from the National Trust collection, which is inspired by the abbey of the same name in Hampshire.

The site also reports the decision to build a greenhouse comes as Jonathan wants to "become more self-sustaining through the growing of fruit and vegetables".

Planning permission documents obtained by MailOnline read: "The owners of the property have deliberately chosen a high-quality structure which has been designed to the highest standards to be in keeping with the appearance of the earliest domestic greenhouse."

The structure will include a water reservoir, lighting, raised planters, and strengthened glass, all of which will reportedly cost around £16,000.

Meanwhile, Jonathan recently said he'd be happy if he stopped working because he's more focused on supporting his wife Jane Goldman in her own career as a screenwriter and author.

He said: "Now I'm a bit more engaged emotionally and I've perhaps softened as a person. I think I'm a better person - certainly I pay more attention to my wife. "Obviously she was always someone I was devoted to but now I spend more time trying to appreciate what her needs, ambitions and desires are, and trying to support her.

"I love doing ['The Jonathan Ross Show'] and I'm happy working but if I wasn't doing it I'd also be really happy. Ten years ago I wouldn't have been. I used to tie up a lot of my own happiness and self-belief and self-confidence in my success as it was seen by the outside world."
