JonBenét Ramsey’s unsolved murder will be explored in a new series on her killing

The show is apparently being made by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, as speculation keeps raging over the murder of the six-year-old beauty pageant contestant from America, 27 years after she was found strangled with a broken skull in her parents’ basement around seven hours after being reported missing.

An official logline for the project states it “details the mysterious death and the surrounding media frenzy in the murder of JonBenét Ramsey, a case that captivated an entire nation and left us with more questions than answers”.

Variety named the studios that are apparently making the show, and said Richard LaGravenese is attached to serve as the executive producer and showrunner on the project.

Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach are said to have sold the project to MTVES and 101 and are also executive producers.

Richard has mainly worked in film during his career, on the screenplays for films such as ‘Unbroken’, ‘Water for Elephants’ and ‘The Horse Whisperer’. He also directed ‘PS I Love You’ and ‘Beautiful Creatures’.

JonBenét’s body discovered in the basement of her family home in Colorado hours after her parents reported her missing.

There have been numerous theories as to who killed her, including that it was a family member or someone who broke into the house, but the case is still officially open.

It has been the subject of intense media attention and still grabs headlines.

The upcoming series on the mystery is currently untitled, according to Variety.

JonBenét’s parents John and Patsy Ramsey were considered by Boulder police as suspects in her death but they were not charged with any crimes.

In 2006, Alexis Val Reich (known then as John Mark Karr) was arrested in Thailand and extradited to the US after making a false confession to killing JonBenét – but no evidence linked him to the murder.

Convicted sex offender Gary Olivia has also repeatedly confessed to killing the child “by accident” but has not been charged.
