The actors' respective characters, Liam Cavanagh and Cain Dingle, have become unlikely friends on the ITV soap and Jonny admits that it is an absolute pleasure to get to shoot scenes with the 'Emmerdale' legend - who has played bad boy Cain since 2000.

In an interview with Inside Soap magazine, he said: "Jeff is one of the best actors on the show. There's a reason why he's been here as long as he has. It's always a pleasure to do scenes with him."

Jonny has teased that viewers will see the pair sharing some "touching" moments on the series as Cain supports Liam following the news that Leanna (Mimi Slinger) has died.

He added: "There's actually some lovely stuff coming up between Cain and Liam after Leanna dies. We filmed some quite touching stuff. It's very sweet."

Jonny thinks that the reason why 'Emmerdale' fans like the pair's bromance is because they have such opposite personalities.

He said: "It's good fun to do, but I had no anticipation that people would enjoy it so much. I think it's the fact that, on the spectrum of personalities, Cain and Liam are about as far removed from one another as it's possible to be!. It's just the least likely partnership - Liam has a total naivety and innocence as to who Cain really is, and Cain doesn't see Liam as any kind of threat at all. So they can both relax with each other."
