The soap star - who plays Nate Robinson on the ITV soap - sought advice from his on-screen father Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle) about what to expect from labour, as Nate's partner Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) prepares to give birth.

He said: "I wouldn't say I'm the same as Nate in terms of being so squeamish about any kind of pus and blood, but I am a bit hesitant when it comes to things like that.

"I had a conversation with Jeff, and I said to him, 'How is it?'

"And he went into detail about it. I've seen 'One Born Every Minute' and there are certain images on that I've seen.

"I think I would potentially struggle. I don't know if I would flap as much as Nate, but I think it would be similar. But who knows?

"It does scare me a little bit, because there seems to be a lot going on down there."

Jurell also admitted he was surprised Nate was so squeamish because he is a farmer, and that part of the plot "didn't make sense" to him.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz and other media, he added: "When it comes to human blood and pus and gore and things like that, Nate is very squeamish.

"Even though he's a farmer and deals with animal blood and that kind of thing, he's very squeamish and scared when it comes to human blood and pus.

"That was new to me to be fair.

"When I first heard it I thought, 'This doesn't make any sense.' "
