The 'Strictly Come Dancing' professional, was so in love with her pet dogs as a kid that she would even "curl up" and eat the same food.

Karen, 39, told the 'Dog's Best Friend' podcast: "My love for dogs started when I was little, my mum had four Dobermanns that she absolutely adored.

"I would literally curl up with them as they were eating and I would give one bit to them and I’d eat one as well, even though I shouldn’t have.”

The pro dancer admitted she misses her canine friends when she's filming the BBC Latin and ballroom show, and so she makes sure to keep in touch with the beloved pooches via Facetime.

However, she joked her pets don't even feign an interest in their calls.

She quipped: " They ignore me!"

It comes as Karen and celebrity partner Greg Wise are set to take part in Movie Week in the latest heat of 'Strictly Come Dancing ', which takes place on Saturday (09.10.2021).

The professional dancer will join the 'Sense and Sensibility' actor in a routine set to music from a James Bond film.

Last Saturday (02.10.21), the pair paid tribute to Greg's late sister Clare during couple's choice week.

The 55-year-old star - who is married to Dame Emma Thompson - brought head judge Shirley Ballas close to tears with his moving disco routine to 'If You Could Read My Mind', which he dedicated to his sibling, who sadly died from cancer five years ago.

Before taking to the stage, Greg shared the heartbreaking story of Clare's battle with the disease and her devastatingly late prognosis in an emotional VT.

He said: "So I want to dedicate it to my sister, the 'Disco Diva'. Family is fantastically important... An extremely important part of the family was my sister Clare.

"My sister was first diagnosed with breast cancer. And she had the brutal treatment of chemotherapy but I don't think she was out of the woods, because it wasn't found out until quite late on, that in fact, she had got bone cancer. And she died just over a year after her diagnosis."

Greg added: "I think my sister will be absolutely thrilled that I'm doing this because of her. And I hope that she will be laughing like crazy."
