The 'Good Morning Britain' co-host has been nominated in the Authored Documentary category for her film 'Kate Garraway: Finding Derek', about her husband's coronavirus ordeal and his subsequent battle with the after-effects, which is still ongoing.

But she is going to "start planning" how Derek - who is still receiving 24/7 care at home - could potentially attend this year's ceremony on September 9th.

She said: "I was just looking, the ceremony is September 9th. I was just thinking, 'Wouldn't it be wonderful if Derek was well enough to come?'

"I was trying to work out the dates and see the logistics of how that might work.

"There's some brilliant other documentaries in the category, I don't think for a moment we will win.

"But it would just be lovely for him to be there.

"I'll start planning how that might work, and we can say our prayers.

"Thank you very much for the nomination."

Kate found out about the nod when she read it in the newspapers.

She said: "I didn't know until I saw it in the papers this morning.

"It's wonderful for the production company and for Derek."

The 54-year-old TV presenter also wished former 'GMB' co-host Piers Morgan well after he was nominated in the TV Presenter category.

And she revealed how he was once "very cross" when 'GMB' didn't win the Daytime accolade a few years ago.

Speaking on the show, she added: "I remember when 'Good Morning Britain' was nominated, it must have been two years ago, the last time there was a proper ceremony, and it didn't win.

"He was very cross."

But 'GMB' won't win the Daytime award at this year's ceremony either, because the programme isn't nominated.

Fellow ITV shows 'This Morning', 'Loose Women' and 'The Chase' are up for the prize, alongside BBC One's 'The Repair Shop'.
