The 55-year-old Smooth Radio host has revealed she was on a trip with the 'This Morning' presenter recently when a man got down on one knee in the middle of the airport and ask for the larger-than-life star's hand in marriage.

Speaking to Giovanna Fletcher on Disney Travel’s 'Journey To The Magic' podcast, she spilled: "I did a great trip recently with Alison Hammond. She is hilarious to travel with.

"She got a marriage proposal at the airport. We were only there for 15 minutes.

"I literally went to the loo, bought a cup of tea and came back and this guy had proposed. It was unbelievable.’

She recalled: "I was just like 'what the heck'. He just sat down and he proposed to her.

"It was extraordinary. She was just like 'yeah' and he proposed – really casual about it. I was like 'this is big stuff'."

However, Alison turned him down, with Kate adding: "So it was a no."

The 48-year-old star recently denied she is engaged to partner Ben Hawkins.

Her boyfriend's father, Colin Hawkins, 72, alleged both Alison and his landscape gardener son popped the question to one another.

Asked whether the couple are to tie the knot, he told MailOnline last month: "I do know they have both proposed to one another but there are no rings that I know of.

"They are really happy but they haven't got everything sorted just yet but they are both talking about marriage, that is true.

"What I do know is that when it happens none of us will know about it because it'll be done in private. That much they have told me."

However, after co-hosting the BAFTAs, Alison told her 'This Morning' co-host Dermot O'Leary it was "fake news".

She said: "I’m so sorry. I told you that when I’m engaged or getting married, I would be first to tell you and I’d be putting it all over the ‘gram and on TikTok.

"You know what I’m like. I’d do a reel, you know what I mean. There would be a ring."

Colin had also praised Alison as "the nicest woman we've ever met".

He added: "I love Alison to bits. She's the nicest woman we've ever met. I would love to tell you a load of stories and they are all good, but I can't because she's asked us to keep things private.

"If you go to her when you're in trouble, she will help you, that's the way she is.

"I know they will get it together and I won't be there to see it, but it will be a very proud day for me. I will be Alison's father-in-law and that'll be lovely."

In May last year, Alison confirmed she was "off the market" after Dermot let slip on air that she had a boyfriend.

Speaking on an episode of the show, he said to her: "You're not available anymore, but if you were, jeez what a catch!"

Alison initially said: "What do you mean I'm not available? I'm available!"

But she then admitted: "I have got somebody guys, I'm off the market, I'm so sorry guys."

Kate’s episode on 'Journey To The Magic' is available on all streaming platforms, and will also be available to watch on the Disney UK YouTube channel.
