The 'Good Morning Britain' co-host's significant other has been in hospital since March last year after he contracted coronavirus, but due to the latest pandemic restrictions the 53-year-old TV presenter hasn't been able to see Derek for two months.

Speaking on 'GMB', guest Frank Bruno said: "We all go through ups and downs. If you see your husband today, Kate, give him my regards please."

Kate replied: "I will do. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to, I haven't for two months.

"But I will try to pass that message on, that's very kind. I will try and do that."

Since being hospitalised last March, Derek is now free of coronavirus, but he is still "ravaged" from the effects of the deadly infection.

Kate previously admitted she is finding the situation tough to deal with.

Speaking in January, she explained: "It's been a strange time, I've been a bit low since Christmas - physically low, I felt physically at the end of my tether and had to regroup a bit.

"This week, a friend of mine's mother-in-law, who is 51 - younger than me - died from COVID. She got it at Christmas, it went down very quickly and she died, I just thought I can't believe that here we are so far on.

"Derek's still ravaged from the effects of COVID from way back in March, his recovery is incredibly uncertain."I'm trying to look for new things and new ways and talking to doctors about what we can do for him meanwhile people are still dying in extraordinary numbers - people that aren't older and haven't got underlying conditions, it's unbearable."
