Katie Hopkins has been accused of committing a hate crime.

The former 'The Apprentice' candidate was reported to the police for being "personally offensive" to size acceptance campaigner Kathryn Szrodecki during filming for her TLC programme 'Katie Hopkins: My Fat Story'.

The incident began when Katie asked Kathryn: "I'm looking at you and I'm making an assessment that it is not healthy to carry that much weight on your knees ... I just don't believe you're healthy in that state."

The outspoken 39-year-old star then turns to another of the women on the panel - whom Katie met with to discuss views on her claim that fat people are "lazy" - and asks why she's as big as she is, to which the woman replies that it's because she eats too much.

At this point Kathryn says: "Do you not realise where you're going with this? This is actually to do with a hate crime."

The outraged woman then steps outside to call the police, saying: "Yes, it became personally offensive and I believe it is a hate crime and I'd like to report it."

However, Katie is left unfazed by the woman's actions after the police fail to show up and she goes on to insist that the panel are simply upset because she's right.

She says: "They're irritated that I have a voice, one of them even threatened to go and call the police, so I told her to go and do that."

Katie went from eight stone and twelve pounds in weight to eleven stone and thirteen pounds and then lost it all again to prove how easy it is to get fit for the documentary, which airs on January 2 and 3 at 9pm on TLC.
