Former 'EastEnders' star Katie Jarvis has landed her first role since it was revealed she was working as a security guard at bargain store B&M last year.

The 28-year-old actress left her role as Hayley Slater in the BBC soap last year and had been working as a security guard in between acting jobs but her fans can now see her on screen again in Million Youth Media's short film 'Take Me', which was released on YouTube in December.

In the short film, directed by Cornelius Walker, Katie and Oliver Alvin-Wilson play married couple Katy and John, who are struggling financially, despite having three jobs between them.

Katy turns to selling drugs to make some extra money for their family but their eldest son Jay (Jedial Stiling) takes the blame when police arrive with a search warrant.

Katie - who has children Lillie-Mae, 10, and Alfie, eight - last appeared on screens in 'EastEnders' in February 2019 and enjoyed a big storyline over the Christmas period.

Her character Hayley pushed Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) down the stairs, leaving her and the rest of the Slater clan fearing he was dead, but he made a miraculous recovery.

Before leaving Walford, Hayley left her and Alfie's baby, Cherry, in the care of the Slater clan.

In December 2018, Katie was left feeling "humbled" after she won the Best Soap Talent accolade in Nothing But's TV Awards.

She tweeted: "To say I'm extremely humbled by this award is an understatement.

Thank you so much to every one who took the time to vote for me. It really does mean so much and I hope i can continue to make all my supporters proud (sic)"

The actress is no stranger to picking up accolades for her work, having a hat-trick of prizes for her performance as 15-year-old Mia in the drama movie 'Fish Tank', which saw her star alongside Michael Fassbender.

She scooped the Most Promising Newcomer prize at the British Independent Film Awards; Best British Performance gong at the Edinburgh International Film Festival; and she was handed the London Film Critics Circle Award for Young British Performer of the Year.
