Linda Nolan admits filming 'Celebrity Antiques Road Trip' kept her in high spirits during her cancer battle

The 'Celebrity Big Brother' alum, 64, was initially diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer in 2005 before overcoming it a year later, but in 2017 she was told that she had a form of incurable secondary cancer, which spread to her hip in 2020, then her brain this year.

She's quoted by the Daily Star newspaper's Hot TV column as saying: "It took my mind off things. I'm not one to sit at home and think, 'Poor me'.

"I find that getting out and doing things is good."

The Irish singer filmed the programme with good friend Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi, and she admitted she only agreed to participate in the show because her pal would be there.

She explained: "Francis is hilarious. It was so funny filming with him. When we met up and he said, 'I only agreed to do this show because of you.'

"And we had a really good time together. We had a ball. Spending time with an old friend was perfect for me."

Despite the BBC show keeping her in good spirits, Linda has previously admitted while her tumours "haven't got any bigger" she still has some struggles.

She wrote for the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The relief rolled over me like a wave. Thank God. My tumours are stable and haven’t got any bigger. The chemo is keeping them at bay for now. So, we carry on. Every three weeks, for as long as I can tolerate it.'

"It’s become a way of life now. I have my cancer book – a title I never thought I’d have in my library – with all my bloods, weight and so on recorded (I’ve lost 4kg, although I reckon I could live off what’s left for some time).

"I people-watch, listen to the bleeps and the clapping when those finishing treatment ring the bell. That’s lovely, I’m always happy for them, but I rang that bell twice. And I know now I won’t be ringing it again."
