Linda Robson was "nervous" about returning to 'Birds of a Feather'.

The actress is to reprise her role of Tracey Stubbs in a revived version of the classic sitcom - which also stars Pauline Quirke as her sister Sharon Theodopolopodous and Lesley Joseph as their man-eating neighbour Dorien Green - and she admits she was worried the new episodes wouldn't live up to the original series, which aired between 1989 and 1998.

Speaking at blinkbox's 'Game of Thrones' Season 3 launch event at the Tower of London on Thursday (18.07.13), she told BANG Showbiz exclusively: "First of all we were really excited, and then we were nervous thinking about whether it would be as good as the last series that we did and everything.

"But having met the writers and spoke about storylines yesterday, we feel much more confident and relaxed and looking forward to it. We've seen the script for one episode and got the storylines for the series. It's really, really exciting."

Although the original series aired on BBC, the new run of eight episodes will screen on ITV in 2014, and Linda says the cast and producers decided to defect to the rival channel in order to have more time to reintroduce the beloved characters.

She explained: "We wanted to go to the BBC. The writers and producers went along to the BBC and they commissioned a script; they saw the script and loved the script, and they commissioned it as a Christmas special.

"We just felt that we've been away for so long - 15 years - and for people to get used to the characters again, people that have never seen the series before, you'd need more than one episode. ITV offered eight episodes, so we went for [that]. We thought with the eight episodes at least we get a chance to get to know the characters."

'Birds of a Feather' follows the hijinks of bickering sisters Tracey and Sharon, who move in together after their husbands are sent to prison.

The new episodes will begin filming in September and air on ITV early next year.

Linda was joined by 'Game of Thrones' stars Maisie Williams and Joe Dempsie on the red carpet at a special event to celebrate the third season of the hit fantasy drama launching on blinkbox.

The online streaming service has landed exclusive rights to the episodes ahead of their DVD release in February 2014.
