The 61-year-old presenter has fronted the ITV1 daytime show for 20 years but has been off screens in recent weeks whilst his brother Timothy, 54, stood trial accused of 11 sexual offences involving a teenage boy.

After Timothy was found guilty on all counts earlier this month, Phillip and co-host Holly Willoughby then took their traditional Easter break, but he returned to host the show on Monday (17.04.23) alongside former Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes.

But though he thanked viewers for their support, Phillip didn't directly address the scandal.

Speaking at the beginning of the show on Monday, he said: "I'd just like to say, it is really lovely to be back. I have missed the show and everyone here and also to you. I wanted to say thank you for your kind messages and support which were really appreciated. Thank you very much indeed. On with the show... Shall we?"

Phillip and Holly were replaced by the likes of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary as well as Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle during their time off, and even though Holly had also been due to return today, she had been forced to take the rest of the week off after coming down with a bout of shingles.

She announced on her Instagram Story: “Hi, just to let you know, I may be away for the rest of the week as I have shingles. I’ll be back as soon as I’m better. Huge love.”
