The 45-year-old actress - best known for her playing Tiffany Mitchell on the BBC soap during the 1990s - was diagnosed with the condition in April 2017 and took to Instagram to reveal the symptoms she is suffering from her recent flare-up.

She said: "Sunshine! Hurrah! We are having a little drive as I've been having a flare-up of the fibro and Lyme today and I feel like I've been hit on the head by a mallet! I get migraines from hell!"

Martine desperately needed some relief from her pain so took a drive out, but confusion with the SatNav only added to her ordeal.

She added: "I've managed to rest a bit and I wanted some fresh air & a little trip out - but the Sat Nav says one way & Waze says another!"

Lyme Disease is a bacterial illness by bites from infected ticks and can leave the sufferer with severe fatigue, anxiety, migraines, joint pain and muscle weakness.

Martine has also lived with depression and Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME), and previously admitted she appreciates "the simpler things in life" after years of battling illnesses.

Martine also no longer worries too much about her career, as she's busy focusing on getting the most out of life.

She said: "After you've been through what I've been through you learn to appreciate everything. You start to appreciate the simpler things in life ... and then the career comes second. I get offers to do TV shows and films, but often they are things that aren't special enough or it's something I don't think I can bring anything to."
