The 32-year-old actress - who can be seen on screen as military medic Georgie Lane in the fourth series of 'Our Girl' this week - is proud that her alter ego has made women consider a career in the armed forces.

She said: "I've had letters and I have a lot of DMs from people saying, 'You've inspired me or my sister to join the army.' I get them quite a lot, which is amazing."

The brunette beauty is bowing out of the show and admitted it was "really sad" when she finished filming, especially as she had a particularly poignant scene when her character reflects on the last few years.

She told OK! magazine: "It was really sad. It was weird because everyone finished on the Friday and we had a wrap party, but my scenes didn't finish until the Tuesday so we said goodbye on the Friday and everyone was flying home on Saturday and Sunday.

"I was in a scene with a lady who came in for that one day and that sort of helped me deal with it as I'd already said goodbye to 2 Section and I'd finished my scenes with the lads, which was very sad.

"And then I had the scene of me saying goodbye to Georgie. There is one big emotional scene and she releases everything about how she has felt over the last few years."

Michelle - who is married to Mark Wright - found some of the action scenes "really challenging", in particular one where a car explodes.

She said: "There are a lot of stunts. In episode one there is one with three of us in a car and that was really challenging.

"I didn't like it! We were up very high. It felt like we were upside down forever. We had to film it three times. Every single time I couldn't undo my seatbelt."
