Miley Cyrus at the MTV VMA Awards

There will be no Miley Cyrus twerking on 'The X Factor'.

The 'Wrecking Ball' singer has been given strict instructions to ditch the raunchy dance move - which involves her bouncing her bottom up and down - in favour of a "family-friendly" performance when she performs on the show on November 17.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "There will be no suggestive bum wriggles or crotch grabbing."

Fears that Miley's antics might be too hot for prime-time TV come after her controversial performance at the MTV VMA Awards in August in which she stripped down to a skin-coloured latex bikini before grinding against Robin Thicke during his rendition of 'Blurred Lines'.

'X Factor' previously came under fire when Rihanna's performance on the 2010 final sparked several complaints, while Christina Aguilera's sexy routine to promote her film 'Burlesque' was deemed too risqué for the pre-watershed time slot of 8pm.

Meanwhile, Gary Barlow will reportedly perform with Sir Elton John during the 'X Factor' final.

The talent show judge is said to have planned a special performance with the 'Candle In The Wind' hitmaker on the ITV show's grand final on December 15 at Wembley Arena.
