Broadchurch

Broadchurch's second series might not revolve around a murder mystery storyline.

Show creator Chris Chibnall has hinted the new series of the hit ITV crime drama will stray far away from the murder mystery theme of the first series, which focused on finding schoolboy Danny Latimer's murderer.

He told RadioTimes.com: "Who says there's a murderer?"

Further elaborating on his plans for the hit drama's second series, Chris says the new run of episodes will be "interesting" and "surprising".

He added: "The one thing I can promise is we're not going to start with another dead body on the beach at the start of series two.

"We're going to go somewhere different, we're going to go on a different journey, I hope it's going to be surprising and interesting. That's the aim."

'Broadchurch' proved a huge hit with viewers when it aired in early 2013.

The series starred David Tennant and Olivia Colman as detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller, who were tasked with investigating the murder which rocked the idyllic seaside town of Broadchurch.

Chris is currently working on a US remake of the show - titled 'Gracepoint' - which will see David reprise his role alongside 'Breaking Bad' actress Anna Gunn.
