The Australian soap is set to celebrate the country's first on-screen gay wedding since it legalised same-sex marriages, and it will break the fourth wall for the occasion.

It has been announced that Aaron and David - played by Matt Wilson and Takaya Honda respectively - will mark their big day with 'Especially For You'.

The track was performed by Kylie and Jason, who both acted in the soap as on-screen couple Charlene and Scott Robinson, and went on to collaborate together after the singer left the show in 1987 to focus on her solo career.

Meanwhile, Matt recently admitted he still couldn't get his head around the enormity of acting out the soap's first legal gay wedding.

He told Digital Spy: "It still doesn't feel real. A lot of the time you get so consumed with the work in front of you, you don't realise the bigger picture or meaning of what we're actually doing.

"This is the biggest moment in my career so far, that's for sure."

The 30-year-old star also spoke out to calm any worries from viewers concerned it could have a dramatic or upsetting twist, as many soap weddings have the past.

Instead, Matt explained it will be a "beautiful" episode.

He added: "Unlike previous weddings in global soap opera history, there aren't any 'huge' surprises that may spoil the day. It's a beautiful, well rounded episode that will have you shedding a tear of joy."

'Neighbours' will air David and Aaron's wedding today (03.09.18) at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
