This year (2022) has plenty of comedy movies and TV shows to keep us entertained, from features like The Lost City to series such as Hard Cell. However, Apple TV+ has a great entry for later in the year...

Actor and comedian Noel Fielding, perhaps best-known nowadays for hosting the popular show The Great British Bake Off, is set to star in an untitled series which will retell the story of highwayman Dick Turpin.

Turpin is an iconic British highway robber, the most famous yet least likely of robbers whose success is mainly based on his charm, showmanship, and amazing hairdo.

Along with a gang of rapscallions and lovable outcasts, Turpin experiences both the incredible highs and not-so-fun lows of the celebrity lifestyle. He must also do all he can to escape the Thief Taker General.

Produced for Apple TV+ by Big Talk Productions (which is part of ITV Studios), the series will be directed by Ben Palmer (The Inbetweeners Movie, Breeders), written and created by Claire Downes, Stuart Lane, and Ian Jarvis (The Outlaws, The Job Lot) with Noel Fielding and Jeremy Dyson (League Of Gentleman) as Script Consultant.

Executive Producers are Kenton Allen, Noel Fielding, Victoria Grew, Matthew Justice and Ben Palmer.

The forthcoming series will be joining an expanding slate of award-winning and critically hailed comedies on Apple TV+, including the Emmy Award-winning global hit comedy series Ted Lasso, as well as Slow Horses, Mythic Quest, The Afterparty, AFI Award-winner Schmigadoon!, Peabody Award-winning Dickinson, the Emmy Award-nominated Central Park, and Trying

There are no details as to when the series is set to release, but with first look images revealed, it might not be too long before we hear news of a trailer, or even other cast members.

With his history of comedic roles, and his wonderful rapport with fellow Great British Bake Off host, Matt Lucas, it seems rather clear that this forthcoming series, whenever it may debut, will be a riot from start to finish.

Now, it seems all we can do is wonder who will join Fielding in the series; will there be big brand names, or beloved actors who will join the fray?
