The 34-year-old singer - who shot to fame when he came second in the sixth series of the hit ITV talent show in 2009 and then co-hosted the show in 2015 - thinks the show needs to "take a break" from its long-running format to freshen things up.

Olly appeared on 'This Morning' on Thursday (28.02.19) and said: "If they are going to take a break from the show, I think that's a good thing to do, because they need that for a little bit. There was a rumour they were going to do a celebrity 'X Factor'.

"I think it does need a little bit of a break from what it was doing and I think Simon has seen that and I'm glad he has. I like the show more than anyone, God, the show changed my life. I watch it like everyone else.

"I've always felt something is not clicking right on the show. It does need a break, and yeah, we will see what happens."

Olly also addressed speculation about the possibility of a champion of champions edition of the competition - in which the most successful contestants from the show's past battle it out for the top spot - but said he wouldn't be interested.

Ruling out his involvement, he said: "I've heard about this. I've been asking everyone at ITV if they can give me a clue what is going on, because I'm clueless. No. I wouldn't go back on it, no."

The 'Troublemaker' hitmaker is excited about his upcoming tour which starts in May and says it is going to be an "emotional" experience as he is not sure what direction his career will go in after.
