A brand new clip from upcoming HBO Max series, Peacemaker, has been released, and introduces fans to the characters that will be backing John Cena’s titular anti-hero.
Peacemaker will follow on directly from the events of James Gunn’s successful release, The Suicide Squad, and will see Cena return to the role of Peacemaker. His performance in the recent DC movie was enjoyed by fans who loved his humour and action scenes, despite his questionable decision-making towards the end of the feature.
A post-credit scene at the end of The Suicide Squad essentially set in stone a thrilling future for Peacemaker, and there have already been a few teasers released ahead of the series’ debut in January, 2022.
The forthcoming show will see Cena’s anti-hero working with a new group this time, which will be interesting to witness.
Peacemaker will now be working with A.R.G.U.S (Advanced Research Group Uniting Super-Humans) on his mission to save the world.
Character posters have also been dropped for the new series that shows off the new team, including one for Peacemaker’s pet eagle, Eagly.
The new clip allows viewers to get to know Peacemaker and his new comrades a little better before the show airs next month. Some may already know some information about the characters set to appear in Peacemaker, but for those who aren’t as knowledgeable, the video serves as an introduction.
Fans are introduced to Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), John Economos (Steve Agee), in addition to the newest member, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks).
As well as letting fans get to know the team a little before the series’ debut, the clip also gives audiences a more detailed look on the mission they'll be facing, and provides more context as to why Peacemaker has been recruited for this job.
Despite Peacemaker supposedly being the star of the show, it seems as though the A.R.G.U.S team will be stealing some of the spotlight, which may be a good thing for fans who are excited for the show, but undecided about whether or not they want Peacemaker to be front-and-centre after his actions in The Suicide Squad.
The clip mentions “Project Butterfly” which, if Project Starfish from The Suicide Squad is anything to go by, could simply be a large butterfly; but the show seems to have more up its sleeve that that...
The video also shows Cena’s character with the same whimsy he had in the recent DC movie, which is what earned him a place as a fan-favourite, alongside other characters from the film, such as King Shark (Sylvester Stallone/Steve Agee) and of course, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie).
Peacemaker promises raw action, thrills, and so far seems to boast a great narrative, all of which fans will be able to see for themselves very soon.
Peacemaker will air on HBO Max on January 13th, 2022, with episodes expected to release every week on the streaming platform.
