The 50-year-old pop star - who was raised as a Jehovah's Witness - has confessed he's only started embracing the holiday as an adult and credits his wife Emily with making sure the family gets into the festive spirit every year because he's still "new" to Christmas.

In his column for new! magazine, Peter explained: "The build-up to Christmas is upon us. We’re putting our decorations up at the start of December and the kids join in, which makes everything so much more fun. We have lots of traditions – like Elf On The Shelf – but, I’ve got to admit, Emily introduced them.

"I’m still kind of new at this because I grew up in a very religious household and we didn’t celebrate Christmas. So the festive spirit is down to Emily. Oh, and Santa, of course … "

Peter - who is dad to four kids with baby number five on the way - previously admitting becoming a father changed his views on the holiday season.

He told the Mirror newspaper: " I grew up in a strict household of Jehovah's Witnesses. We didn't celebrate birthdays or Christmas or anything like that. I still respect everything I learned, even though I'm not part of the faith.

"But one of the things is a lot of people say is: 'Do you feel you missed out' and I say: 'Well, you don't know any different'. But, now the kids are going through it I get to live it through them and it's beautiful ... I enjoy seeing it through the eyes of the kids."

Peter has sonJunior, 18, and 16-year-old daughter Princess with first wife Katie Price - as well as Amelia, 10, and six-year-old Theo with wife Emily, and he recently confirmed the couple are expecting another baby together with the new addition due in 2024.

Sharing ultrasound photos, Peter and Emily wrote in a joint Instagram post: "We are delighted to share the news with you all. A new addition to our family in 2024 The kids are so excited. So are we."
