Phillip Schofield wants to be on This Morning for another 10 years

The 60-year-old star was chosen to front the long-running daytime show as a replacement for John Leslie back in 2002 and after celebrating 20 years on the show on Monday (06.05.22), admitted he would like to spend at least another decade on the famous sofa.

He said: "The 20 years have gone by in a blink. It's only when you see those [early] pictures that you realise how much time has gone by.I hope I'll still be presenting 'This Morning' in 10 years' time. I have no plans to leave that sofa!"

The former children's presenter initially shared the sofa with Fern Britton until she was replaced by Holly Willoughby in 2009 and went on to admit that he will always be "grateful" to Fern for taking him under her wing during the early days

He told The Daily Mirror newspaper: "I'll always be so grateful that Fern was so caring and looked after me so beautifully 'This Morning' is the best show to present - but no matter how much experience you have, it takes time to get used to it. It has its own way of doing things and its own language. Like being in a new school, it takes time to find your coat peg."

Phillip was joined on 'This Morning' by current co-host Holy Willoughby, 41, back in 2009 and went on to pay tribute to his "best friend" and claimed that the pair always know what the other is thinking.

He said: "[Holly and I] are best friends, we know everything about each other and we trust each other on and off-screen. Out humour and minds work in the same way and we intuitively known what the other is thinking or will do."
