The 38-year-old royal recorded a special message to thank people for coming together during the special one-off fundraising campaign in April 2020, which helped to raise over £74 million to be split between Comic Relief, BBC Children in Need and the National Emergencies Trust.

Speaking during Friday's (19.03.21) 'Comic Relief Night of TV', William said: "Your incredible generosity raised over £74 million for so many brilliant charities, including the National Emergencies Trust, at a time when COVID was first really taking its toll. Thank you all so much."

William also introduced a short film highlighting the increase in the number of people experiencing mental health issues over the past year and the support provided by organisations funded by Comic Relief.

Last year, during 'The Big Night In', Prince William appeared in a 'Blackadder' sketch with Stephen Fry, who reprised his role as Lord Melchett.

Meanwhile, Davina McCall and Alesha Dixon hosted Friday's 'Comic Relief', which raised an impressive £52 million for charity.

They were joined on the show by a host of stars including Paddy McGuinness, David Tennant, Lenny Henry, Amanda Holden and Jason Manford.
