The 'EastEnders' actress has given viewers a tease of what to expect from her character after coming out to her grandparents and introducing them to her on-screen girlfriend - played Gurlaine Kaur Garcha - with more twists to come.

She told Metro.co.uk: "So obviously I've moved out and there's a lot going on with that and my girlfriend is on the scene now, so there's going to be a bit of drama there."

The soap star admitted while she hopes the couple are still together by Christmas, the knows Albert Square is never short of unexpected moments.

She added: "I would like to be kissing under the mistletoe but it is EastEnders so you never know."

Meanwhile, it appears there is a lot for viewers to unpack with Iqra over the next few weeks, as she promised "loads of layers" to her character.

She said: "There's loads of layers to Iqra. There's stuff coming up but you'll have to wait and see."

Priya debuted on 'EastEnders' in February earlier this year alongside Rukku Nahar - who plays her sister Habiba - and Iqra became the soap's first ever Muslim lesbian when she revealed she was gay after previously preparing to wed a man in an arranged marriage.

Opening up about her character's LGBTQ+ storyline, she gushed: "It was amazing. I think 'EastEnders' has done amazing bringing this storyline out. I'm so proud to be presenting this storyline."
