Professor Green

Professor Green narrowly missed out on a role as a chair-spinning coach on BBC's 'The Voice'.

The rapper was reportedly shortlisted for Danny O'Donoghue's former seat on the panel of the talent contest, but lost out when show bosses decided they needed someone "indie" to Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson.

It has also been claimed that Ricky - who joins Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and fellow show newcomer Kylie Minogue on the panel - wasn't even the first choice for the "indie" seat, Miles Kane was initially approached but turned down the offer, heat magazine reports.

Despite the claims, the BBC insist they are happy to have Ricky onboard.

A spokesperson said: "We have to represent people from different musical backgrounds so we are pleased we've got Ricky on board. We think he's the right man for the job and we're thrilled he has joined."

Pro Green's song 'Real All About It' was performed in the final of the show's debut season last year by then-coach Danny and his act Bo Bruce, who finished runner-up on the programme.
