Ant and Dec reveal latest update about their Byker Grove reboot

The 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' co-hosts revealed in July they are planning to reboot the 1990s BBC show, on which they made their name as characters PJ and Duncan, and they are hoping to help upcoming actors and youngsters who want to forge a career behind the camera.

Speaking on 'Lorraine', Dec said: "We're trying to bring back 'Byker Grove' and bring in the next generation of young talent, both in front of and behind the camera, up to the North East.

"It's really exciting."

The pair previously admitted they want to open the children's show up to a "whole new audience", as well as those who are "are old enough to remember it so fondly".

In a video announcing the news in July, Dec said: "17 years after it closed its doors for the final time, Byker Grove is opening them up again.

"Now, it's obviously a show very close to our hearts, the show which gave us our breaks, so we couldn't be more excited that we'll be giving it a new lease of life.

"Once again, it will follow a new generation of young people and their families as they try to navigate the challenges they face today in the 2020s."

Dec also wondered whether or not PJ and Duncan will make a cameo appearance at The Grove, but Ant wasn't so sure.

He quipped: "I wouldn't have thought so. I reckon PJ now, right, is performing at Wembley Stadium with his platinum selling rap album."

Dec quipped: "As you can probably tell, storyline development is at a very early stage."
