Reggie Yates came close to breaking down in tears after hearing Kylie Minogue had landed a job on the 'The Voice'.

The 30-year-old star left his role as co-host of the BBC One talent show alongside Holly Willoughby after two series, and admits he was devastated after hearing the Australian singer had agreed to join Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and fellow newcomer Ricky Wilson on the programme.

He joked: "I nearly cried for days at the fact I wasn't going to be around those hot pants. But no, I can live with it."

Marvin Humes and Emma Willis have since taken over as hosts of the show from Reggie and Holly, and Reggie believes the programme will benefit from their appointment.

Speaking to Digital Spy, he said: "I spoke to Marvin the other day about it because we're mates, I've known Marvin for a long time and I was at his wedding, and Emma and I have the same manager, so I am in no position to give anyone any advice.

"They know what they're doing and they've both been presenting for a little while now ... I think what that show will definitely benefit from is people who are willing to be themselves, if Marvin is Marvin and Emma is Emma."

Reggie admits it was a difficult decision to leave 'The Voice', but insists the time was right for him to depart the role.

When asked whether it was a tough choice, he said: "Yeah of course it was, it's a huge show and it's a show that I love.

"I think it's going definitely do great things in its next series. But you know when it's time it's time ... for me there are lots of other things I want to do."
