Ricky Gervais is close to signing a deal for an album by his 'The Office' alter-ego David Brent.
The TV funnyman's character is known for his cringe-worthy sing-alongs, such as 'Free Love Highway', and although Ricky's had big money offers from major labels, he's planning to sign with Fiction records, home to credible acts such as Elbow, Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs and The Maccabees.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Fiction are currently front runners to release an album of David Brent songs.
"They've got a great roster of rock acts and know that an album of the comedy tracks will sell well.
"Ricky Gervais is a real music fan so their credible background will appeal to him.
"So far he's knocked back massive offers from major labels in the UK and US but he's now close to doing a deal. Sony Records - the firm behind Kings of Leon and Beyonce - had an offer worth millions refused recently."
Ricky's first shot at fame came when he sang in 1980s band Seona Dancing, before starting his career in comedy.
He has penned several comedy songs for his alter-ego, including 'Spaceman Came Down' and 'Ain't No Trouble', as well as a so-called rap called 'Equality Street' in aid of Comic Relief.
He also appeared as Brent in the successful 'Learn Guitar with Brent' YouTube series.
