The 26-year old performer lip-synced for her life against fellow competitor Vanity Milan to Mis-Teeq's ‘Scandalous’ for judges RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Alan Carr and guest panellist Alesha Dixon, the former member of the Noughties girl band.

Scarlett said as she left: “The best and most important thing I learned from my time on the show was truly to just believe in yourself, cause there are people out there that do see your talent and do believe in you even when you don’t see it for yourself.

“I’m so incredibly grateful to be able to appear on this show, and it’s like an amazing yet incredibly tough boot camp! It truly does prepare you to deal with anything!”

This week’s maxi-challenge was the Miss F.U.G.L.Y. (Friend, U Gotta Love Yourself) Beauty Pageant where all five remaining queens had to serve up three looks from different categories. First up was F.U.G.L.Y. Swimwear in ninety minutes.

Scarlett conceptualised a Crazy Cat Lady - sporting a feline-inspired swimsuit decked out with nose clips and a kitty teddy and hindered by a rainbow hairball mid-runway - which impressed the judges.

Michelle said: “I thought this one was cute!”

However, Scarlett's next look - Charity Shop Chic in 60 minutes - was less of a hit with with judges.

Alan accused her of playing it “a bit safe” and said she could have taken it a bit further.

He said: “This look felt a bit safe … you could have had a bit more fun with it. F.U.G.L.Y. can mean anything, so that was where you could have tried something different.”

After the bottom-two performance, head judge RuPaul determined it was her time to go, telling her: “Scarlett Harlett, from the Isle of Dogs to the Isle of fierce Drag Race bitches. You’ve come a long way. Now, sashay away.”

As she departed, Scarlett told the cameras: “Of course I’m gonna go home. I was up against Vanity, who is an amazing lip-syncer. There was no way I was gonna come out of that alive. I am so proud to be a part of 'Drag Race'.

“This is a life-long dream fulfilled. Can’t wait to tell me mum. Mum, I made it to the top five! I’m gonna be taking that Macaulay Culkin scream all the way to the bank girls."

For the remaining four girls, she wrote on the mirror in lipstick: “My one single talent got me to the TOP 5… Maybe now you’ll get a word in edgeways!! Love you all, Scarlett. (sic)”

'RuPaul’s Drag Race UK' will back Thursday 11 November from 7pm on BBC Three via iPlayer.
