The former 'Gogglebox' star joined the programme in 2017 and though Stephen Mulhern will be returning to the show alongside main hosts Ant and Dec, the 29-year-old brunette has been dropped but her place won't be taken by anyone else.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Show bosses are planning lots of new and exciting features for the 2020 series alongside the return of viewer favourites.

"Scarlett Moffatt won't feature in the new series but she's not being replaced. It will be just Ant and Dec and Stephen Mulhern who will return to host Ant vs Dec."

ITV have confirmed that Scarlett "won't feature as a contributor" when the programme - which took a hiatus this year while Ant focused on his sobriety - returns to screens in 2020.

A spokesperson told The Sun Online: "Scarlett Moffatt won't feature as a contributor in the 2020 series of 'Saturday Night Takeaway'.

"We thank Scarlett for all of her hard work on the show and will announce details of the new series nearer transmission."

When she first joined the show, the former 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' winner hailed the role as her "dream" job.

She said at the time: "I've watched 'Saturday Night Takeaway' with my family for as long as I can remember, I'm such a huge fan, so to be part of one of the biggest entertainment shows out there, with two of my all-time TV heroes Ant and Dec, is an absolute dream."

The news will come as a blow to Scarlett as she has also lost her job on jungle spin-off Extra Camp', with herself and Joe Swash replaced by Emily Atack and Adam Thomas as co-hosts alongside Joel Dommett.
