The CW have now revealed their first-look image of Brandon Routh - Arrow's Ray Palmer - suited up in his Atom suit ahead of scenes which see him step into the outfit and fight crime.

Though his close friend Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) has tried to warn him off going ahead with wanting to help 'save the city', Palmer wants to make a real change to the lives of those around him and is going to stop at nothing to change the world forever.
Distinctly different to the costume we have seen in DC Comics of the past, Palmer's face is - in this picture at least - visible and guarded by just a visor.
Any sign of blue is gone from the outfit instead replaced by darker tones and shades of black and grey, but the red we're used to seeing on Atom is there and distinct, helping to form an A on the chest area.
With rumours of a spin-off series being contemplated, this is The CW's chance to prove that Palmer in the Atom suit is a hero we can all root for and would get behind if given his own slot on a weekly basis, and let's face it, how awesome would an Arrow/Flash/Atom mash-up be?
