Sheridan Smith has shaved not only her eyebrows but her head to portray late friend Lisa Lynch in upcoming drama The C-Word.

The "bittersweet" BBC One drama airs later this year, and Sheridan is upset that Lisa won't get to see the final result.

Speaking on This Morning she said: "I'm wearing a wig... A friend of mine passed away last year from cancer and she used to write a blog and she wrote a book called 'The C-Word' and we've been trying to get it made for years.

"We've finally got it made. It's kind of bittersweet. We wanted her to be involved but we've done it in her memory. So yeah I shaved my head and my eyebrows.

"That will be on at the end of the year on BBC One."

Sheridan will be broadcast tonight portraying Cilla Black in the television mini-series Cilla on ITV.

She was originally nervous about the role but wearing false teeth helped her perfect the iconic Liverpudlian accent the entertainer possesses.

"I just had to whack my teeth in and I was away. I had it easy. The voice was the hard part.

"They [the fake teeth] change the shape of your mouth so they really helped with the accent and the, 'Thurr [there] and curr [care]', you know the way that she speaks from the mouth, so the teeth really helped."
