The 58-year-old music mogul has already decided he will take his acts to his £20 million residence in Malibu, which features seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a tennis court, a swimming pool and even a massage room, on the upcoming series of the ITV programme.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: "There's going to be a lot of changes this year. And the one thing I'm going to do is have my Judges' Houses at my place in Malibu. It's going to be fun."

In previous years, some of the panellists have hired luxury villas and hotel suites during the Judges' Houses, instead of welcoming contestants into their private abodes.

But Simon - who is expected to star on a new-look judging panel alongside Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and the singer's wife Ayda Field - is determined to bring a real-life feel to the segment on this year's show.

Sir Elton John's husband David Furnish recently revealed that the chart-topping star has already rejected the chance to join this year's 'X Factor' judging panel.

He explained that the 'Candle in the Wind' hitmaker was forced to turn down the opportunity because of his jam-packed touring schedule.

David said: "There was talk about the possibility of a judging role for Elton.

"But he does 100 shows a year and he doesn't have time for 'X Factor' judging roles. We're too busy with Elton's tour, which is starting in September."
