The 55-year-old television producer and music mogul who brought the world 'Britain's Got Talent' and 'The X Factor' has been inspired to enter the arena of kids TV after he welcomed 19-month-old son Eric into the world last year.

He said: "He (Eric) loves music and a photo I posted of him playing drums to One Direction was the motivation to a new show we're working on."

Though no more details have been revealed Simon has the formula all worked out.

He added: "It's really cool, aimed at kids, and we're sorting out a deal now. It is based on something Eric would like to watch but that isn't around at the moment."

Meanwhile, the talent mentor said he can't wait for the Pride of Britain Awards that takes place on Monday (28.09.15) but said last year after having baby Eric with Lauren Silverman he felt more "emotional" watching the young winners.

He told The Mirror newspaper: "Lauren was with me last year and is quite emotional anyway - she was in pieces afterwards. As a dad watching another child going through one of these awful things, there's part of your brain that goes into that mode of 'What if it was Eric'? It's definitely one of the reasons I was more emotional."

He added: "There are so many awards ceremonies - but this one's about things that genuinely matter."
