'Skins' bosses have held talks in a bid to resurrect the show.

The hit E4 drama about a hedonistic group of teens from Bristol could be revived in the form of an online drama, just one year after its final episode aired.

Creator Bryan Elsley told RadioTimes.com: "Discussions are under way with a number of parties."

The show had three different casts over the course of its seven series, with popular characters including Tony (Nicholas Hoult), Effy (Kaya Scodelario) and Frankie (Dakota Blue Richards), and Bryan revealed the show would once again be centred around a whole new generation of friends.

He said: "Any reimagining of Skins would be from the ground up, a reimagining of the whole thing. Today's youth are very different from what they were when 'Skins' started."

Bryan is hopeful the technological advances of the modern world will offer an interesting new platform for the programme by the time plans come to fruition.

He explained: "The thing about the modern world now is that the future is neither film nor television series, not platform, nor not platforms. It is about collaboration, co-production and the internet.

"Somehow that equation has got to be worked out and I think it will be worked out quite quickly. Whether it will be worked out in time for 'Skins' I don't know."

Bryan co-created the series with his own son, Jamie Brittain, but confirmed he wouldn't be returning to produce this time around.
