Stephanie Davis has paid an emotional tribute to her father after his supported through her mental health battle.

The 'Hollyoaks' actress - who recently revealed her on-screen break from the soap was because of a suicide attempt - praised her dad for helping her with the "hardest battle" of her life with a message last night (07.01.20) on his birthday.

She wrote on her We Are Simply Complicated Instagram page: "He said today his best present was this, pointing to me where I was sat, meaning me sat here, sober, alive & present.

"You forget sometimes how much you put your family through. (sic)"

She added that both she and her two-year-old son Caben-Albi would be "lost without him" and described her dad as an "amazing" father figure for her own little boy.

She said: "I'd be lost without him, we both wouldme & Caben.He's not only been an amazing father to me, but father figure to Caben too. (sic)"

The 26-year-old soap star - who insisted a "thank you will never be enough" - revealed her dad's advice helped her get through her struggles, and how he inspired her to "fight".

She continued: "I will also never forget when I wanted to kill myself my dad called me & I was literally screaming & he said, what are you going to do kid, give up or Fight through this weekend till we get you help.

"It was only for my dads words at that moment when i needed it the most I clung onto it & I did it, I don't know how but I did it! (sic)"

She added: "Here's to the future filled with laughter & joy. I love you dad."
