Strictly is reportedly being haunted by a ghost in the toilets

There have long been rumours of ghostly activity at London’s Elstree Studios - where the hit BBC 1 show is filmed - but now a new report suggests there have been spooky goings-on in the loos and many of the team are convinced they have a ghost.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "One of Strictly’s head honchos was in the loos recently and the stall doors slammed by themselves. The windows weren’t open so it couldn’t have been the wind.

"And the toilets sounded like they were weeping and made odd noises. It was incredibly eerie and no one was around. There has always been rumours the Strictly studios were haunted, but this has just confirmed the fears."

The studio has been used to film a number of spooky films over the years including horror classic 'The Shining' and a number of Sir Christopher Lee's Dracula movies, and rumours of a haunting go back many years.

Yvette Fielding previously filmed an episode of her ghost-hunting TV show 'Most Haunted' there in 2005 and she previously explained why the site is so spooky.

In a column for the Daily Star newspaper, she wrote: "One of the stages was built on top of a piece of land where a family allegedly died of the black death.

"Elstree Studios soon became known as the Haunted studios, and over the years famous actors and crew would whisper to each other about personal objects being moved in the dressing rooms, showers being turned on full and worse - the sounds of children whispering and singing and men growling when no one was there."

She added: "I believe that the stars of 'Strictly' should watch their backs."
