The 26-year-old actress admits she watched the film - a Chinese folk story about a brave young girl - numerous times when she was a youngster, and the deaf star used to tune into the motion picture without subtitles and understood it in a different way.

She said: “When I was little I used to watch it with no subtitles, and I understood the storyline in a completely different way to what actually happens.”

Rose always understood the story of 'Mulan' to be about a fiercely independent character, however she was disappointed to discover that everything she did was for the sake of a man.

She is quoted by The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column as saying: “When I watched it recently with the subtitles I was disappointed – my version was much better.”

The 'EastEnders' actress was praised for paying tribute to the death community during her performance on Saturday night (13.11.21).

Rose - who is the show's first-ever deaf contestant - and her partner Giovanni Pernice danced to the song 'Symphony' by Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson, and halfway through the performance the music was muffled and turned down to silence as the pair carried on dancing.

Judge Anton Du Beke applauded the couple and said it was "the greatest thing I've ever seen on the show".

Head judge Shirley Ballas said: "This is a number that will be etched in my heart for a long time. It was absolutely beautiful.

"I'm sure the deaf community will be absolutely so proud of you."

They were awarded 39 out of 40, a near-perfect score.
