The 50-year-old actress - who is best known for playing Mel Owen in the BBC One soap - suffered the technological faux pas due to predictive text changing her desired sign-off "Tam" to the brand of feminine hygiene product leaving her mortified.

Now, Tamzin makes sure she double checks all her email correspondence before pressing send.

She is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "I went to go 'Tam' and thought it had done me and it always said 'Tampon'.

"And then I've gone back and read over it and it's like, 'I've signed off Tampon.' I go a bit slower on the name now."

It is not the only messaging mishap that she has suffered.

Tamzin has also sent her accountant an email which was loaded with kisses.

She added: "I also once put loads of kisses to my accountant by mistake."

Tamzin recently revealed that she was overhauling her health by quitting drinking.

Although the 'New Tricks' star - who is dating Tom Child, 30 and has daughters Florence, 12, and eight-year-old Marnie with ex-husband Tom Ellis - used to love a boozy night out with pals, two-day hangovers and paranoia have led her to the decision to cut out alcohol completely.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday newspaper, she said: "I’ve thought about quitting drinking for a long time and it feels like now is the time.

“Actually, I don’t need this any more — it’s more of a ¬hindrance, because if I do have a brilliant night and I love it, we’ve got stories for days about those good times.

“But then I’ve got two days where I’m not very clear. And you know, five drinks can do that to me now.”
