Sir Terry Wogan is to host a special edition episode of 'The Ed Sullivan Show' for TCM.

The variety show - iconic in the USA - originally ran in America for two decades and helped lift the careers of legends including The Beatles, Elvis Presley and The Supremes.

After over 10,000 acts on the show between 1948 and 1971, Terry Wogan is going to host a 90 minute compilation of some of the stand-out highlights through the show's timespan.

Wogan will provide a running commentary and behind the scenes insight into the show as well as its presenter Ed Sullivan.

Of the project he said: “I am delighted to be involved in The Ed Sullivan Show. This was the pre-eminent variety show of its time which hosted all of the greatest names in American showbusiness. The Beatles, the Supremes, The Doors, Elvis Presley, Liza Minnelli and Julie Andrews to name but a few; this show introduced the very best musical, comedy and speciality acts of the day and when Ed Sullivan talked, America listened. Such legendary acts are timeless. I’m very much looking forward to seeing it all play out afresh on TCM for UK audiences!”

'The Ed Sullivan Show' launches on TCM UK on November 10 at 7pm, with new episodes every Saturday and Sunday thereafter at the same time.
