Warren Clarke has passed at 67-years-old.

The British actor is well known for his portrayal of Detective Superintendent Andy Dalziel in Dalziel and Pascoe, and his agent today confirmed to BBC News that he's died.

Starring in the series for eleven years alongside Colin Buchanan, he also played the role of Dim in Stanley Kubrick's 1971 cult classic movie, A Clockwork Orange.

He later appeared alongside Malcolm McDowell - also in Clockwork Orange - in 1972 movie O Lucky Man! and 1985 television film Gulag.

Clarke was born in Lancashire and made his first television appearance in an episode of Coronation Street as Kenny Pickup in 1966, and later as Gary Bailey in 1968.

More recent roles include that of the one he played in BBC series Down To Earth, as Brian Addis, a family man who moves to a Devon farm after a life in bustling London.

In his personal life, Warren's said to have been a major fan of Manchester City Football Club and a keen golfer.

His family have yet to comment.
