Brian Conley is to release a memoir

The 61-year-old actor - who has been married to Anne-Marie Conley since 1996 and has daughters Amy, 26, and 21-year-old Lucy with her - has been a mainstay on British television for more than 40 years and is known for having fronted 'The Brian Conley Show' in the 1990s as well as these days playing Tom 'Rocky' Cotton in BBC soap opera 'EastEnders' so has decided to put pen to paper in what he has described as a story of "survival".

He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper's HotTV column as saying: "It will be a book about survival! I'd love for my grandkids to read it one day so they know what my world was like. When I started, there were only four channels. I had my own show on Saturday nights. It was getting between 12 million and 15 million viewers. It was a big era. And I've done musicals, chat shows, I've been in a sitcom. I've met a lot of people over the years. I've got two different fanbases I've got people who only know me for shouting 'It's a puppet!'And then I've got people who know me for being in 'EastEnders'."

The former 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here' contestant - who has starred in such shows as 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' at the London Palladium, played Fagin in the UK tour of 'Oliver!' and most recently appeared in the Dolly Parton musical '9 to 5' - has recently given a parrot to work with on 'EastEnders' and revealed that the bird is always swearing in its cage.

He told OK!: "It’s been well documented that it does swear a lot. Just between us, we brought this parrot on and I said to the director, 'Is it going to make a lot of noise?' And then the trainer lady came on and she said 'No, because it’s a new environment it’s going to be very quiet. So anyway, we start and it kept swearing and I do know there is an outtakes tape and I really hope to see it one day. It was so funny that they put it together. It just kept swearing to the point where we have to pretend it’s there!"
