Denise Fox's daughter (Diane Parish) was originally played by Tiana Benjamin from 2006 to 2010, but after a decade away from Walford the salon owner's eldest child is heading back to Albert Square, and former 'Coronation Street' star Zaraah cannot wait to play her.

Zaraah - who played Joanne Jackson in 'Corrie' from 2005 to 2007, and Michaela White in 'Waterloo Road' from 2008 to 2010 - said: "I am so excited to be joining such an iconic show and I am really looking forward to taking on the role of Chelsea Fox."

Chelsea previously had a fling with Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp) and a brief encounter with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), who her mother Denise is now dating.

Jon Sen, EastEnders' Executive Producer, added: "When Chelsea was around, trouble was never far away and that is as true as ever when she returns to Walford later this year.

"We are excited that fans are going to see Chelsea back on their screens and thrilled that the wonderful Zaraah is going to play her."

Chelsea's return later this year will be a double shock for Denise, after it was recently confirmed Don Gilet will reprise his role as her ex and Chelsea's father, Lucas Johnson.

Don will be back in Walford as the priest-turned-serial killer later this year.

He said: "I’m thrilled and honoured to be asked to breathe life once again into such a complex, controversial and divisive character but, most importantly, to have another opportunity to work alongside one of the UK’s finest actors, Diane Parish. I feel blessed."

Lucas was last seen in 2016 when Denise visited him in prison, and he was adamant he is absolved of his sins.

However, Denise told him to never contact her again.

It comes after Denise recently had a shock when she discovered the couple who adopted her and Phil Mitchell's son Raymond had been killed in a car crash.
