Gregg Wallace became the first celebrity contestant to leave Strictly Come Dancing this year, despite seeking the help of a therapist before his Saturday night performance.

After failing to impress with his take on the Charleston, Gregg was sent packing from the BBC One dance show.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph Gregg explained: "I've never felt so scared and uncomfortable, to the point where I was crying and having severe anxiety attacks, with pain in my chest and shortness of breath."

The MasterChef judge added: "I only managed that Charleston thanks to an hour's session with a therapist beforehand."

In the dance-off with professional partner Aliona Vilani, he found himself competing against Mrs. Brown's Boys actress Jennifer Gibney and her dance partner Tristan MacManus.

All four judges - Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Craig Revel Horwood and Burno Tonioli - voted to save Jennifer and Tristan meaning Gregg and Aliona were forced to exit the competition.

EastEnders actor Jake Wood topped the leaderboard this week, receiving three nine out of ten scores from the judges following an energetic and impressive Salsa with Janette Manrara.

Pixie Lott came in second with Trent Whiddon, scoring a total of 35 for their Waltz.
