The Union J heartthrob has signed up to come face-to-face with creepy crawlies, tuck into rice and beans and share his bed with some of the most dangerous animals in the world as he makes his way into the Australian jungle next month.

A source said: "It's an amazing opportunity for George. The group [Union J] has floundered a bit, so it's important for him to make a mark on his own."

The 22-year-old singer - who shot to fame on 'The X Factor' in 2012 - hopes the ITV hit programme will boost his profile.

The insider added to The Sun newspaper: "He hopes 'I'm A Celeb' will give him a chance to show there's more to him than just being a boy band member."

Meanwhile, former 'Dragon's Den' star Duncan Bannatyne has also reportedly agreed to jet Down Under in order to feature on the popular reality TV series.

While other stars who are rumoured to have signed up for 'I'm A Celeb' so far include former 'Geordie Shore' star Vicky Pattison and 'Made in Chelsea' hunk Spencer Matthews.

Although, not everyone is willing to venture into unknown territory as 'X Factor' veteran Louis Walsh reportedly turned down a £500,000 offer to appear on the show.

'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!', which is fronted by comedy duo Ant and Dec, will hit screens in coming weeks.
