The BBC One show has lost professionals Ola Jordan, Kristina Rihanoff and Aliona Vilani, who are popular with viewers, ahead of the new series and now producers are keen to snap up Gleb Savchenko's wife Elena Samodanova.

A source said: "Elena would be perfect on the show and Gleb really missed her last year. Losing three such popular dancers will be a real blow unless we move quickly to sign up the best, most creative and captivating dancers."

And bosses aren't just limiting themselves as they are looking to worldwide competitions in a bid to find female dancers, who have "brilliant" personalities and great choreographing skills.

The insider added to The Sun newspaper: "We want brilliant personalities on 'Strictly', but also brilliant dancers. Ola, Kristina and especially Aliona were absolutely brilliant choreographers and created routines people wanted to watch again and again. They are huge losses, but we're determined to find great new talent."

Meanwhile, the shows' producers have got their eye on Daniel Craig to lead this year's celebrity line-up.

A source said previously: "What a coup to get 007 on the dance floor. The professional girl dancers would all be fighting to be partnered with him."
