The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge has admitted she was asked by big boss Simon Cowell to jump on board the singing programme a few years ago but, after careful consideration, turned him down because she finds the show too "serious."

Speaking on 'This Morning' today (07.04.16), she said: "There's always rumours. Back in the day, I thought about it [joining 'The X Factor'] because I love singing. That's what I do but I think 'The X Factor' wouldn't suit me because it's too serious. It's very serious in that the judges are against one another and I think that bit would make me uncomfortable."

However, the brunette beauty has hinted she may be open to joining rival show 'The Voice' when it makes it shift to ITV.

She said: "I've always liked the idea of mentoring. But I think 'Britain's Got Talent' suits my personality more."

Meanwhile, 'The X Factor' has been thrown into chaos this year as Cheryl Fernandez-Versini - who judged on the show from 2008 until 2010 before returning in 2014 - announced earlier this week that she is stepping down as a coach.

And she isn't the only judge to walk away from the programme following the flop of last year's series, as Nick Grimshaw has also decided to turn his back on the show.

However, in a bid to reel viewers back in, Simon has persuaded Dermot O'Leary - who was dropped as the host last year following eight years on the show - to return.
