ITV has announced the 'Paradise' hitmakers will be one of a host of big name artists to play on the conclusion of the pop star search show which takes place over the weekend of December 12 to 13 at Wembley Arena and will be broadcast live on TV.

The band - fronted by Chris Martin - will definitely perform a track from their upcoming new album 'A Head Full Of Dreams' - which is released December 4.

A source previously said about their potential performance: "Coldplay are a huge act, and this will be a key performance. They've collaborated with Beyonce and Noel Gallagher on the album. Who knows who they could bring as a surprise guest?"

Other acts rumoured to have been asked by boss Simon Cowell to perform on the final are One Direction and Adele.

Adele - whose new album '25' has broken chart records in America and the UK - is reportedly wanted by Simon to duet with on the finalists, in what has become a tradition on the programme.

The source added: "Adele would be a huge draw for the show and producers are desperate to snare her. It would be a Beyonce-style moment for the contestant and would make great TV. But that's down to Adele, it's her call."
