Rachel’s baffled by Hugh’s ingratitude. She can’t figure out why he would be anything less than delighted to be set up with some random nurse Rachel happened to catch him talking to. “He doesn’t usually take himself so seriously,” she whines. Colleen seems to think the odd couple looked happy enough at lunch; Kim suggests Hugh could have a problem with Rachel. You don’t say. At work, poor lovelorn Hugh is snappy and vacant, gazing into the vending machine and fondling the photo of himself and Rachel as banterous interns that’s burning a hole in his wallet. He eventually gets over himself and sits down to apologise. Rachel grins benevolently. She’s been thinking long and hard, and she knows why he got so irate about the set-up. He’s missing his ex-girlfriend in the city. Hugh frantically agrees. He describes the woman. She’s smart, she’s gorgeous…she ticks all the boxes except one. “It’s a timing thing, I think,” Hugh mutters, staring at his shoes glumly.InvestorgateMartha’s distracted and worried. Cam’s gallant offer of a takeaway can’t take her mind off that horrid drug bust. “The drugs weren’t even mine!” she wails. He’s spitting about the bust and terrified he’s going to lose the club. Lo and behold, one of the club’s major investors pulls out. Cindy points out that Cam didn’t have to go and plant the drugs on Martha, but the Eyebrow wanted to teach Jack a lesson. Back at the flat, Martha gets a visit from a thug who’s come to collect Cam’s car – it was on loan from his boss, the investor who’s pulled out. She’s stunned, and heads to the club to see what the beef is. Cam’s all antsy, especially when clumsy Marth pours a load of coffee on him. “Just leave it; you’ve done enough damage already!” Cam barks. Like a frightened Bambi, Martha scampers off to Alf’s waiting arms. Alf advises her to cut her ties with Cam and she’s thinking about it; then a gigantic Eyebrow appears on the doorstep, begging for forgiveness. Martha hugs him, but she’s clearly shaken…

Labour party

After umpteen false alarms and phantom contractions, Kim finally nods off and leaves Kit in peace to recline like a bubble on the sofa. The next morning, he wakes to the sound of a pan crashing to the floor. “My waters just broke,” Kit pants. Is this really it?
